Photographing the Old Cotton Factory has been wonderful! Not only do I get the opportunity to take shots of a lovely mill, but I actually have been able to see the changes over time. This is a picture of the tower and eastern side of the building taken January 2008.
This is the first picture I took of the mill, not realizing at the time what I'd come across. I've always been looking for interesting buildings to photograph and hadn't yet discovered the style that was common for old textile mills. This was taken in July 2003. Quite a difference in just four years.
This is the southern side, facing Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill. This was taken in July 2007 during the renovation work.
Again, the same section of the mill after renovations have been finished. This is from November 2007.
This is a detail shot of the top of the tower. What the mills lack in aesthetics, they make up for in character. With the windows replaced, a thorough cleaning and fresh coat of paint, it looks like a brand new building and ready to stand well into the next century.
This is the front and back of a sign that stands outside of the mill detailing the history of it up to the present time.
