If you've come to this page, you're obviously checking out to see who I am, so let me tell you a bit about myself . My name is Debra Delorme, but most folks call me Debbie or Deb. My age? Let's just say that I'm over 50 and let it go at that, shall we?

I'm one of those unsuaul critters referred to as a native Floridian, born in Clearwater, Florida. I've lived in both the west and east coast of the Sunshine State, and hadn't considered living anywhere else until I met my significant other, Ted. Marrying him brought me to Charleston, SC, which wasn't much different than Forida. Lots of touristas and humidity, not necessarily in that order. From there, we moved to Lumberton, NC, and then to Charlotte. NC. Presently, we're living in Fort Mill, SC, a modest little burg approximately 10 miles south of Charlotte.

Ted and I met approximately 23 years ago, and knew each other in passing through various fandoms, starting with Elfquest, the SCA and finally through anime. We married in 1987, and just celebrated our 20th anniversary in July 2007. Kids were never a part of the plan - we left that to his sisters to take care of. Instead, we have had various cats, starting with Asuka and working our way down from there. Currently, we have three cats - Harley, Gracie and Lucy - collectively referred to as "the girls". Ted's got a page on his own web site that has great pics of the girls; you can check them out here.

Professionally, I've been a counter attendant at a movie theater, cashier/stock clerk for a grocery store, worked in data entry and generated assembly instruction tags for baby clothing. My primary skill, however, is medical transcription, specializing in Imaging Services (Radiology, CT, MRI, etc). What I do is sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day, listening to dictation and not only making sense of what's being said, but typing it into a report format.

My hobbies an interests tend to be varied, and more importantly tend to change about at any given time. I've been working with counted cross stitch since I was 14 years old. My grandparents took me on vacation with them to Williamsburg, VA, and I picked up my first kit there of the Governor's Mansion. I love embroidery, but I'm also incredibly slow and lazy about it. It takes me up to a year or more to finish a piece. Short Attention Span Gal, that's me! Since I tend to give away most of my pieces, I've started taking pictures of them so I have a record of what I accomplished and where it went.

Writing is another pleasure of mine, whether doing bits of fan fiction with friends or playing in my own universe. I've written for Elfquest fandom, Start Trek, Star Wars, various anime shows, comic books and have been been published in several zines, books and online. Being a pulp fan, much of my work is that form of genre, gritty tough heroes against larger than life villains. My stories involving my own version of a pulp hero, The Scarecrow, led me to having stories published in "Tales of Masks and Mayhem"., three volumes of which have been published in a three year span.

During the past few years, I've become intrigued by two things: architecture and photography. When it comes to buildings, I find skyscrapers breathtaking, art deco to be my style of choice, and taking pictures of them as I drag Ted on a city crawl is a tremendous source of pleasure. My favorite buildings are the old textile mills, and it's because of my interest in these buildings that brought about this web site's creation, a place to share this odd hobby with others. The photo of me at the top of the page was taken at the main gait to the Loray Mill in Gastonia, NC, the mill that got me started.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my site. Feel free to check out the pages and if you like them or you have additional information and/or corrections about the information on my mills pages, let me know. Thanks for dropping by!
