The area where I live in South Carolina is always a wonderful discovery of textile mills. Fort Mill is the home of the Springs Industry, and on the other side of the Catawba River in Rock Hill, there were, from what I've read, at least five mills built, four of which I've discovered. This one is the Aragon Mill, located just off Dave Lyle Boulevard and near the center of town. I don't have an exact date when she was built, but have seen references to her from at least 1906.
This caught my eye when I was photographing the building. It's just enough decoration to give a touch of personality to the mill that I found attractive.

The mill is presently in use by several different companies that have leased space within. I would like to thank Mr. Erik Lengers for permission to be on the property and for his help in identifying several items that I'd photographed but never come across before.

As I mentioned in the other pages, smokestacks have beome a favorite of mine to look for and photograph. This is the Aragon's stack, a long view from the south side of the property and looking over part of the mill. The second picture is a close up of the stack where I found an opening. This might be where the pipe that lead from the boiler room would connect to the stack.
And what would a textile mill be without a tower? You can see it to the very east side of the main building, rising just slightly above the roof.
And here is a close up of the tower taken from the northern side of the property.
This view was taken of the western side of the mill from the back (northern) area of the property. This part of the roof doesn't have a tower; I believe that is where the stairs access the roof.
